Labor & Delivery

Labor & Delivery in the Family Birthing Center

Brahm's Lullaby has sounded throughout the hospital, announcing the birth of your new baby. A new life has entered the world, and our Women’s Services staff is ready to take care of you and your new infant. At this most important time, we focus on the needs of you and your family as you begin this new stage of life.

TriStar Horizon’s Family Birthing Center is an exceptional place to have a baby. But, having a baby begins long before you give birth and the more you know, the more relaxed and comfortable you'll be with the changes in your body and in your life. Our maternal-child health education classes led by experts, are ongoing and include: Prepared Childbirth Classes, Breastfeeding Basics, and Prenatal Tours.

For information on exact times and locations, visit our Event and Class Calendar.

Services and programs are family-focused to insure the best experience possible. You and your baby will be cared for in the warm, nurturing atmosphere of a labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum room (LDRP). Should you give birth by cesarean section, you'll be taken to an operating room, then returned to your private room.

Rooming-in

Rooming-in is an excellent way to begin bonding with your baby. Our LDRP rooms are spacious and allow plenty of room for you and your family to get to know your new baby. This gives you the opportunity for "hands on" experience caring for your newborn with guidance from your nurse when needed. If you decide you need to nap or just rest and relax, your baby can also be cared for in our newborn nursery. While we hope for healthy babies in all deliveries, TriStar Horizon has neonatologists and experienced nursing staff in the newborn nursery. And, before you go home, our Nursery staff will teach and review necessary skills in caring for your baby to help you make a smooth transition from hospital to home. First Sounds

The ability for an infant to hear is vital to speech and language development. All babies born at TriStar Horizon receive a complimentary hearing test. This program is a community service aimed at early detection of hearing loss in infants.
